It's official - Hakuouki has now surpassed Rurouni Kenshin in my book. (And that's saying a lot since Rurouni Kenshin is one of my favorite animes of all time.) The story pulled me in at the beginning and had me riveted all the way until the very end. I fell in love with the characters and my heart went out to them. I laughed, and I probably would have cried at the end had it not been so very beautiful. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was too damn short. Twenty-two episodes just wasn't enough!
I'm looking forward to watching Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan (Season 1) and Hakuouki Hekketsu-roku (Season 2) again when the English dubs come out. I don't know when that will be, but I'm quite sure that an anime this good will be licensed for English dub soon. I'm bursting with curiosity as to who the English voice actors will be. And I hope FUNimation gets it since almost all of my favorite English voice actors are there.
Regardless, Hakuouki will forever stay in my heart along with Rurouni Kenshin as one of the greatest animes I have ever seen. Now I think I really am going to cry. Hehehe...
